Yonder Wandering

Yonder Wandering is a simple attitude piece with a close, intertwining harmony.

Composer’s Comment: This is my least complicated piece, and one we often use for practice and warm-ups.  When people want to start learning my music who aren’t used to performing close harmony, I usually recommend it as the best first practice piece to try.  I actually wrote it while I was stuck in the basement of a confusing building unable to find the exit, but it turned into something more philosophical in the end.

Lyrics

I don’t know where I’m going
I don’t know where I’m bound
I don’t know where it’s leading me
this path that I have found
But it’s all right, that’s how I like it
It’s a lonely road but free, all through the night
I’ll simply hike it, ’till
tomorrow shows me where I’m wandering
As I wander (wander yonder) as I’m wandering (as I wander)
As I wander, wander yonder, yonder wandering.

I don’t know where I’m standing
I don’t know where I am.
I don’t know what I’m wandering
Around or through or in.
But it’s just fine, that’s how I like it,
It’s a lonely road, but after all, it’s mine
I’ll simply hike it, ’till
tomorrow shows me where I’m wandering
As I wander (wander yonder) as I’m wandering (as I wander)
As I wander, wander yonder, yonder wandering.

I don’t know how I got here,
I don’t know where I’ve been.
I don’t know what road carried me
to the place that I am in.
But it’s okay, that’s how I like it,
I’m a lonely soul and love my lonely way.
I’ll simply hike it, ’till
tomorrow shows me where I’m wandering
As I wander (wander yonder) as I’m wandering (as I wander)
As I wander, wander yonder, yonder wandering.
